We use indigenous & naturalized African seed butters, oils and botanical extracts as core ingredients in our products. We do not use petroleum, synthetic fragrances, parabens and sulphates.

Imijelo refers to streams, channels, conduits or rivers of anything, e.g., water, oil, minerals, etc.

The name Imijelo yeAfrika was selected to encapsulate the appreciation of what our beautiful continent has to offer from its wealth and luxury of natural resources as well as reiterating that Africans can harness these by themselves for themselves. The company itself is, therefore, a conduit that aims to change our painful history into a positive and empowering one.

The idea was borne out of the asthmatic founder’s desperation to find effective cortisone free ways of managing sensitive skin for herself as well as the dry eczema prone skin of her four kids.
